We decided to start this fishing week from Latham Island. The memory of the great Giant Trevally we found during the previous tour gave us no rest. We outfitted the boat with a selection of equipment specifically for casting with poppers and stickbaits lures. Casting rods with action to 180g, PE9 line, reels with 30kg max drag, topwater lures up to 150g and treble hooks 8/0 and 10/0 were our weapons for the big predators.
None of us expected what would happen during the first hours of the fishing charter to the island. We arrived and two of us cast the lures, followed by monstrous hits on both rods at the same time!
After a few hours we had lost a few fish but caught more than fifteen Giant Trevally. The weight of the fish varied from 20kg up to more than 50kg. Our entire group experienced a high level of joy and emotion.
In the following days, we switched to trolling and casting with hard topwater lures. There was no fishing day with less than six monster Giant Trevally caught. Trolling was also amazing with high amounts of fish diversity.
The days of this week slipped by, and this tour ended with an impressive result.
